Family Member DNA Extract and Hold

This test allows biological parents, or other biological relatives, to submit their specimens in advance of a future trio or duo genomics test for a proband. Once the family member's specimen is received at GeneDx, DNA will be extracted and stored in accordance with our policies until a proband specimen and test order are received. Please include the names of any additional providers who may submit the future proband test order if different from the ordering provider for this family member.

When ordering a trio or duo test for the proband, identifiers for each previously submitted family member (name, date of birth, and GeneDx accession number) must be included to ensure accurate and timely matching of all family member samples. No testing or analysis will be performed on the family member without a trio or duo order and receipt of the proband specimen or a separate test order for the family member.
